The Western Peninsula Master Plan offers a community-driven vision for the future of the island wastewater treatment plant site and surrounding areas on the western edge of the South Beach peninsula. Developed by the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council, the plan reflects months of collaboration with the public, stakeholders, and experts through a robust engagement process that included a real estate market analysis and a multi-day public design charrette in October 2024.
Initiated in anticipation of the wastewater treatment plant’s relocation inland, the plan provides a conceptual framework to guide future redevelopment. It presents recommendations to enhance public access, encourage compatible private investment, and improve connectivity and resiliency in this key waterfront area.
While the Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency Board formally acknowledged receipt of the plan through Resolution 25-08 on April 8, 2025, the resolution does not authorize or require immediate implementation. Instead, the plan is intended to serve as a guide to inform future decisions and potential redevelopment efforts.
